Comprehensive Psychological Services, P.C. unequivocally condemns racism, bigotry, discrimination, and violence, including the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery. These recent events are part of a pattern of generations of oppression, marginalization, and endemic implicit and explicit bias toward the Black community. The institutional and structural racism, systemic inequity, and dehumanization imposed onto the Black community necessitates widespread action. We condemn current and historical manifestations of White supremacy and racism that influence ourselves and our organizations. Inaction at the individual and/or organizational levels is unacceptable as passivity further reinforces the oppression faced by Black and Brown individuals. It is incumbent on mental health professionals to address the harm that racism creates and to prevent further racism.CPS is dedicated to providing clinical care that promotes psychological well-being and we are committed to diversity and equality through addressing the disparities, and the psychological impact those disparities have, on our clients, ourselves, our colleagues, and the community. As a group of clinicians, we strive to balance our clinical skills, our leadership skills, and our listening skills as we take action to reduce racism. Moreover, we reaffirm our commitment to “respect and protect civil and human rights” as stated in the APA, NASW, and ACA Ethics Codes.
We have attached a number of links to provide access to many of the issues we, as a society, are currently addressing.
